Interview : Aditya Shankar : Hindi (with Eng Subs) Aditya Shankar, 22, hails from Muzaffarpur, Bihar and is a student at IIT Bombay. He queerly identifies himself as a film-maker, curator, and a political enthusiast. He came out of the closet as a freshman in 2011 which eventually took him to the United Nations General Assembly, New York City. He understands the value of language in making strides for LGBTQ acceptance culminating in the creation of Saathi Connect. www.saathi-iitb.org Hi there, As you all know, Saathi: www.saathi-iitb.org has completed two years of being active in its endeavor for supporting the LGBTQ (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Queer) Community on campus. In our short sojourn on campus, our saga has been of nspirational anecdotes and confident voices. We have made ourselves accessible as a resource group to the LGBTQ youth of the campus who have been living a life of disguise for the society around them is hetero-normative and oppressive. This being the general case, I'd also like to point out that there have been numerous cases of acceptance, love and friendships which never bothered of the sexual orientation of its individuals, my personal story being one of the latter. Saathi is a voluntary body of IITB comprising of students, staff and faculty of the campus, working for the cause of diversity. We hitherto, work without any direct funding (but certainly with magnanimous support) and the events are generally organised by the pooled in funds by the members of saathi. We do not intend to be a body with an agenda or conveners or secretaries, we intend to be a mindset, a wind of change, a conversation, Love!

Aditya Joshi is a gay person in Mumbai. Aditya recounts his struggle from being in the closet to being an out person. This Marathi video with English subtitles has moments that leave you teary-eyed.

Ankit Bhuptani is a gay man in Mumbai. In this video, he speaks about accepting himself, and being involved in Queer awareness initiatives. His enigmatic oratory in Hindi makes him a source of inspiration for many.

Fida is a young 'hijda' from Mumbai. She talks about realizing her gender identity and the ordeal which followed.
